New Pro-Rugged vs Original Pro-X (and Pro-X2)

Over the years I have had 3 pairs of Original Pro-X, a pair of Pro-X2 and now this Pro - Rugged. I'm a mountain biker from the Colorado front range, and I alternate between cool day rides with friends and more aggressive multi-hour adventures out in the country (@iRideDumb if you're into that kind of thing). I keep choosing G-Form knee pads because I prefer to ALWAYS ride cross-country with knee pads on, and the G-Form pads are so comfortable and stay in place that I hardly notice them on my rides. The original Pro-X seemed to fit small. I choose size XL to keep the feeling in my feet. They didn't slip, didn't stretch and held up very well. The Pro-X2 felt larger than the Pro-X. I took a ride on a pair of XLs and while the coverage was better, they slipped off and just didn't fit me. Now to Pro Rugged. I ordered size L based on my experience with the Pro-X2 and also because they have an adjustable strap at the top. In terms of size, it was the right choice for me! They fit my feet well and the strap helps keep them in place. The front knee seal is wider and stiffer than the Pro-X. resulting in it stretching a little further than my knee compared to confirming around my knee like the older versions. After 4 rides they started to loosen up and I think it will fit my foot better if they continue to wear. Thermally speaking, they are slightly warmer than the originals in this part of the padding. The back of the knee is a mesh fabric that is lighter than the original and more breathable. On such long hot days you will notice more of it, but no more. Weight/volume, they are slightly heavier/bulky than the original. but it's not very noticeable when you put them on. Overall, this is a great upgrade over the original Pro-X and Pro-X2. They offer better coverage above the knee while remaining comfortable enough to wear all the time on long warm rides!
