Since I am making one cup of coffee at a time, I am not wasting the coffee I would in my 12 cup coffee maker, and I am not throwing away dozens of regular k-cups into the trash each week. I use a rounded spoon with a long handle that also has a clip to seal the coffee bag, and can rest on it. I fill the reusable k-cup over the bag so the coffee won't spill. Originally I filled it over a plate, but that was messy. This coffee measuring spoon with a clip works great because you can give it a turn inside the bag while filling the spoon and not leave coffee on your counter.
