This shelf is good because it's relatively inexpensive (less than $40). The color of the finish harmonized very well with the rest of our teak furniture, that's all. The instructions are pretty poor so it took me a while to figure out which part goes where and the parts are pretty much identical. The kit included hardware and even a small tool for tightening the screws. However, solid parts and screws will not give you a second chance. So if you make a mistake and have to reassemble the step, the board won't fit together exactly and will come off easily. This is by no means a display piece, it's cheap, I've heard it comes assembled, but when assembled and decorated with books it looks pretty decent. it just isn't very durable, so handle it with care.
