Great camera for beginners but you might have trouble

So I bought this camera because I started a YouTube channel and I want to record and document everything that is in my backyard (in the city). , and would like to share it with everyone else. I did some research on cameras and didn't feel like paying $1000 for a camera so I settled on one. I say one of these because there are several different versions of it on the market. They seem to come and go. I bought this when it was $229 and the price has since gone up to around $260. It still costs $260. The camera records normally. Battery life can be a bit longer when recording in 4K, but I don't record in 4K. I record at 1080p and then compress everything down to 720p. I do this to save disk space. With 4K video, you take up a lot of disk space because you then have the inevitable question: keep the raw footage or discard it? I want to keep raw footage so 1080p capture works best for me and my setup. As I said, the camera itself is fine. The record button, zoom buttons and night light button are in one place. This makes it easy to toggle them on and off or zoom in and out as needed. I could only find one external speaker on this thing, and it's under the screen when you lift it. Otherwise, on top of the camera are two roughly half-inch screens that look like speakers but aren't speakers. The microphone could be of a higher quality. I can't remember if this is a condenser mic or not, but in my experience it's not a condenser mic. If so, it's not doing a very good job at all. You get a lot of ambient noise. So you either have to speak very, very loudly to overcome that ambient noise, or you need a lavalier mic, or you need a better external mic that has noise-cancellation and a condenser. I chose a lavalier mic (which I would get anyway) because a lavalier mic with a dead cat pretty much blocks out all ambient noise. They make the best mic so you get the best mic for what I did. I bought a really good noise canceling condenser mic that I put a dead cat on and it works phenomenally with this camera. But if you're just starting out and don't have all the money in the world, this will help. I mentioned the lavalier mic above, it supports lavalier mics. I actually have a 3.5mm jack which is two jacks and one plug so I can plug in both mics and use them at the same time if needed. Most of the time I only use one. The light on this thing seems to work well and holds a lot of charge for me. I tend to shoot a lot of spooky stuff, so I prefer to shoot at night, so I often use night shots and lots of light. I had no problems at all with either of them. There are certainly better lights out there, but in my experience this one works great for my environment. As for the memory card, I can report that it will support a 256GB memory card. I don't know if the description has changed or not, but I ordered a 128GB card to use with this camera, but I had a 256GB card on hand. I tried this card and it worked perfectly. If you're shooting in 4K, you'll need a very large card. Probably some of them. Unfortunately, I can report that this camera can withstand a 4 foot drop. Mine popped right out of the top of the tripod (failed tripod, not the camera). It took about 4ft of fall and after regaining consciousness I checked everything on the camera and everything seemed to be working fine. The camera collapsed along its natural lines (where it was assembled by the manufacturer). I glued it back together and all is good. That was my only problem after dropping it. Another thing I noticed about this camera is that the grip has a lot of play, both side-to-side and front-to-back. It will rattle and make noise in your video. I solved this problem by installing a grip and putting some rubber bands on top of the grip and threading it under the front of the camera. (Image) This eliminated all vibration and external noise. This is bad design. I love the pen idea and that's one of the reasons I bought this camera. But in my opinion this cold shoe mount could be a bit better. I gave everything about this camera five stars for what I paid and what I got and what I can do. This is exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps someone.
