I wanted to measure water flow so I bought a sensor that connects to garden hoses. The sensor has a very short electrical cable that terminates in a non-waterproof connector. I figured this connection would be too close to running and possibly seeping water (good guess!) so I wrapped it in plastic tape. But this tape is not waterproof and my application requires water to flow unattended for hours. So I bought this tape and wrapped it over the tape, following the included instructions for wrapping both sides of the joint. It depends on the tension to stick to itself, which is awkward with a thin, delicate electric cable: it would be better to have two hands for the cable and the other for pulling and winding the tape. But I wrapped it tightly and it didn't let water through. I'm very happy with how it works.
