Just Soft Rubber good for me

I have been using Spenco Polysorb Cross Trainer insoles in my running shoes for about thirty years. Two years ago, I developed Plantar Fasciitis in both feet and began trying other Spenco insoles to help treat my condition and to better support my very high arches. I tried Spenco Total Support insoles, Spenco RX insoles and most recently Spenco Polysorb Walker/Runner insoles. The RX insoles are supposed to be moldable. Out of the box, the arch support started under my heel which made my PF worse. Further, these insoles are only slightly moldable. I do not use them and would not recommend them. The Total Support and the Walker/Runner insoles are very similar, if not identical, in design.but not in materials. Both have a heel cup, minimal cushioning under the heel (.25" and .30" respectively), a fairly high arch and a metatarsal dome under the mid-foot. The Total Support insoles are made of a semi-firm material causing them to hold their shape and provide decent support. The Walker/Runner insoles, on the other hand, are made of soft rubber. They look like they'd be great insoles but, because they lack any structure at all, and because they are simply a slab of molded soft rubber, they provide only minimal cushioning and virtually no support. I found that the molded soft rubber areas (like the arch support) flattened out under weight. (I weigh 158.) I prefer good cushioning under my heels when I run and the Walker/Runner insoles did not provide it. The Total Support insoles provide better support than the Walker/Runner insoles because they do not flatten out as much.I have been unable to locate an insole that provides both proper support for my high arches and adequate under-the-heel cushioning for running. Since I apparently can't have both, I've elected to go with good heel impact cushioning. I have returned the Walker/Runner insoles to Ebay, as I found them virtually worthless, and have gone back to using the Polysorb Cross Trainers. They provide .50" of cushioning under the heel and rear-foot. In my opinion, they are the best Spenco insoles currently available for proper heel impact cushioning for running.

Pros
  • Very good cushioning. Adds arch support to boots, shoes and sneakers. You will not be disappointed 😌
Cons
  • May not be effective for those with severe foot pain or conditions
