I was looking at chain mail iron scrubbers and my choice was between this and a round shirt. I chose this because I like having most of the scrubber in my hand and flat scrubbers clench in my fist and don't leave much on the outside to clean. The silicone stick made an attempt to push the hole out so I took some smaller rings where doubled up and used them to close the hole. In any case, there is no need to remove the silicone stick if you just clean it with a little soap or put it in the dishwasher. Much better to use with this mod (use 2 sets of pliers to straighten the rings and bend them again to close the hole). My favorite cast iron cleaning tool, I'll probably take it with me on my trailer to clean camping dark stoves.
