Review on OTC 4652 Stinger Adjustable Holding by Corey Singh

The perfect tool! c Power tools

Great tool! FYI, OTC 4652 is actually the same as OEM TOOLS 27171 (the same tool you would rent from an auto parts store), NOT what you see in the picture. Each fork has four holes and the hooks are long. I was surprised and happy because the one in the picture would be almost useless for most applications as the hooks would not reach most bolt patterns. Someone has previously complained about the hooks spreading; The answer is physics. The easiest way to explain this is if you take a tool and place it on the ratchet screws facing the motor. You have CLOCKWISE tension on the tool pulley and the forks are NOT moving apart. To remove the 36mm (approx. depending on vehicle) fan clutch nut, unscrew it COUNTER-CLOCKWISE; which means the tool is working fine. If you install the tool on the pulley with the FROM ENGINE ratchet, you will not be able to apply tension when the ratchet is released. 90% of all user errors in mechanics consist of someone not knowing how to use the tool correctly.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • A few little things
