I've waited a long time to write a review, I know. But do I like it? I bought this hard drive in December 2017 to replace another one when I dropped my laptop and the original hard drive broke. Flu and muscle cramps are good, especially when carrying a laptop! My cousin who was helping me with the swap suggested I buy a hybrid hard drive and I did some research and figured that would be best for me. The price for 1 TB of storage was unbeatable. Although I never completed it, I was close to completing half of the materials from school and my personal projects as I regularly clean it up each semester by deleting files from classes and I know I'll never have that information won't use again. It worked very well when we installed Win10 OS. It started off great, worked very quickly (even after I filled about half way up), never had any problems with it. A few weeks ago I was working on a project and my laptop started freezing. I couldn't understand what was going on. I ran an antivirus test using Windows Defender and other security tools I installed. Nothing could complete the test. File backup and reset in case a virus entered the system. The PC worked so beautifully for about a week and a half. I ran the tests again, this time stopped, and nothing could be found. Eventually the system crashed and I had to go and buy a new laptop. Thought it was a temporary PC and I'll get it back after a clean reinstall of Win10. How glad I didn't as the laptop with that hard drive was still failing. Freezes, crashes, blue screen, black screen. Windows Defender still can't find anything. Rebooted the PC and went into diagnostic mode and when the tests ran it was the hard drive. No viruses or anything else that could cause a hard drive to fail (like the flu and throwing a laptop halfway across the room because of muscles). convulsions) and yet after a year and a half a full hard drive somehow broke. It was easy for me to install because my cousin and I knew what we were doing. Perhaps this would not have happened to an unprepared person. If you're the type of person who buys this product and thinks it's easy to set up, a laptop is different than a desktop. So make sure you have the right hardware and tools. I'd like to give it a higher rating for durability, but since it only lasted a year and couldn't fault it, I have to give it two stars on that score. Battery life, it drained the battery much quicker than the standard HD but that wasn't a huge issue. But if you don't want to carry your charger with you all the time, try something else. In general, probably just go to your PC manufacturer's website and buy from there, because then it's a legitimate product from them and not a third-party product. I'm just glad it happened around the time my taxes were due because I'm a poor college student who couldn't afford a new laptop any other time of year, although I could easily replace the hard drive again. I bought a new laptop to do my job because the public PCs on my campus are molasses. Sitting at a desk for 5 minutes waiting for login is 5 minutes of my day. I will never go back thanks to the university! Good storage capacity for the price, high reliability as it only lasted a year.
