We've visited all the pet stores in our area, all the supermarkets and pharmacies, but none had the ammonia we need to start our aquarium. So we decided to try the fish feeding method. I'm not a fan lol. I figured why not just order some ammonia online, yes we might have to wait a few days for it to get here but it would give me time to clean up all that smelly fish feed water and it would be a lot quicker and easier. long-term cranking our tank with ammonia instead of fish food. I got my ammonia 2 weeks ago and dosed it the same day. As of last night we are so close to the cycle maybe another week or 2 max and we're done and ready to fish! I will say that there wasn't much information with the bottle. There was a QR code which I scanned and it took me to their website with a simple video explaining the process of cycling but not in great detail. If this is your first time running a fish free cycle, I suggest you do some research on the aquarium cycle and understand the process from start to finish before adding ammonia to your tank. This saves you time in the long run and you won't get all the detailed instructions with that bottle. You'll also need to do some simple math to figure out how much to add to get the ammonia where you want it. I ran lots of tests to add ammonia to make sure I didn't accidentally add too much. I ended up having to add more than I calculated, but it didn't make much of a difference and I ended up with a lot of ammonia. I ordered some small 1ml calibrated glass pipettes and they are great for measuring how much I'm adding.
