After reading reviews and watching YT videos of several BMG type extruders I decided to upgrade my FLSUN QQS Pro delta printer. It's been a fairly painless process and the results so far are excellent. In the following paragraphs I describe what I felt was necessary: After watching a few videos about a known issue with this particular extruder, I first made a simple change to avoid problems in the future. The idler wheel on the pressure release lever has approximately 1mm of play, which allows the grooves in the idler wheel and pinion to move, making threading difficult. I solved this problem by removing the tensioner from the arm (it comes off fairly easily) and installing some 3mm washers on the shaft at the end closest to the front of the extruder. This shifts the gear so that it does not move away from the pinion. Depending on the thickness of washers you have on hand, one may be fine. Then the direction of rotation of the stepper motor had to be changed. There are several possibilities for this. I chose the easiest one if you don't have access to the printer firmware source code. Just swap the wires of one of the coils on the connector. On my printer, the connector that connects to the stepper motor has four wires in this order: Blue Red Green Black. By very carefully disconnecting the blue and red wires from the connector (there are tons of videos on YT describing this) and swapping them, you can change the direction of rotation. Then a new order: red blue green black. Finally, the extruder spacing per mm needs to be changed in firmware to match the new hardware. It worked for me up to 408.8. Consult your printer's documentation to determine what is appropriate for your printer. As such this is a very good extruder which I would give 5 stars were it not for the need for an idler gear seal and the total lack of documentation that came with the box. YT and Revain reviews will help you further!
