Review on πŸ’‘ ENERWAVE Z-Wave Plus Relay: Hidden Smart Switch for Lights & Ceiling Fans - Wireless Remote Control, 120-277VAC, 10A, Neutral Wire Required (ZWN-RSM1-PLUS, Black) by Justin Buck

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality isn't enough, but when it works, it works well.

Overview: Z-Wave single relay switch. (Note Revain combo ratings, including single and dual relays). Quality and reliability are definitely a concern. I now have about 10 of these switches at home, and almost half of the ones originally purchased had to be returned because the Z-Wave wireless either wasn't working or wouldn't connect to my SmartThings hub at all. And just recently on the first switch I bought that worked for about 2 months, the Z-Wave wireless connection just stopped working and wouldn't connect to my hub, although the manual controls still worked when I did the Light switch manually operated. (strange). So I really wanted to love these switches, and when they work, they work great. And some switches connect directly to the SmartThings hub with no issues. Others of these switches were a little trickier to connect, and as mentioned above, many of them were buggy and wouldn't connect at all. But at the moment all built-in switches work and work perfectly. Only time will tell if any of these other switches will have a shorter life than expected. And if you decide to buy a switch, expect several hours of disappointment if, like me, you unfortunately receive defective ones. But there are very few alternatives to wired, built-in, hidden switches, so they have to be manufactured for now. Or hopefully Enerwave will take note of this and start making a more reliable and better quality switch.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Boring packaging
