Update 11/26/18: It's been almost a year and this mat is still in excellent condition. It is resistant to food, paint, plasticine, markers and so on. It seems to slip a little more than it did at the beginning, but that's really not a problem for us as we're going to vacuum it anyway. Highly recommended! This rug is fantastic! I've been going back and forth for days trying to pick one for our special art space we created for our little ones. We live in a place where the winters get harsh and going out with two children under the age of 3 when the frosts are mostly minus 5000 degrees is not in my plans. I wanted something that would tie the whole room together and make it more plannable, not just a boring room with a table and handicrafts. It worked 100%. In the end I chose this rug because it offers a lot of learning opportunities and if you are a creative person you can make a lot of games out of it from different aspects. It has words, colors, ABCs, seasons, etc. The colors are just as vivid as the picture when you see it in person. The low pile is also ideal for cleaning up dirty children's clothes, but still has some padding.
