This improved part is an 8 pin connector replacing the 7 pin model. An additional pen is not required. Elantra 2011 worked great with this part. Fixed an issue where the gear selector could not engage gear or reverse. Also fixed a weird issue with the key fob where the shifter position didn't know what gear it was in.
