I use my Vitamix regularly for shakes and wanted to get something small to pack for traveling. Thie tribest personal blender was highly recommended by Ani Phyo ( raw food author and chef) in one of her books.I tested the blending blade and grinding blade and find both to be decent. The grinding blade, I made a small batch of nut butter. Wasn't very powerful for doing this, you might burn out the motor, but perfectly adequate for chopping up nuts into smaller pieces. The blending blade, I used to make a smoothie and was very pleased. I realized it couldn't compare to a powerful full size blender, however, if you are mindful of its limitations, it does make a great shake with smaller / softer items. Ex. 3/4 cup water, 3 ice cubes, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/4 a small frozen banana, plus various powders ( ex. Wheatgrass powder, protein powder, etc.)The one that I received from this company is a Canada/ USA plug. Not a European plug as other reviewers have suggested. I think this blender is very well made, and great for traveling. For everyday use, I would not unless I was in a rush. The reason is because I enjoy the ones a Vitamix can whip up!
