My fan broke and started making horrible noises. I wasn't sure how old it was when I bought it, so it worked for a long time. It was an easy exchange. Unscrew the old motor, remove the fan from the old one, put it on the new one, screw it back on and plug it in. It's so easy a caveman could do it. If you can't figure it out, search for a video and double check your fan model and current motor to make sure you've picked the right one.
