If you already have a 2 " threaded barrel you're good to go
This is my second purchase. My house is getting old and many things that were new wear out. I replaced one of them in the bathroom a few years ago, now I have one in the kitchen. I had no problems with either one. My plumbing already had a 2" female adapter, so all I had to do was remove the old inlet valve and screw this back in. I didn't use nylon strap or anything - just hand tightened it. No gas leaks or smells. I don't know what could have happened to those who claimed to have smells. not me
