Review on Peterson Manufacturing V440 Combination Light by Rubeen Black

Well made product I found on AMAZON for a great price. I bought it because I smashed the tail light on my left hand boat trailer in reverse and kissed the curb just enough to damage the plastic housing beyond repair. The original was Wesbar, it's been around for 18 years and it doesn't owe me anything and they don't make that style anymore so I bought the latest design. If you look around you will find that even different models share the same basic style. I know it's an R and I ordered it because I don't use a tail light to illuminate my trailer license plate. All I had to do to put this on the left side was "rotate". The back is clearly marked where to insert the 2 wires. They are simply plugged in and a spring holds them tight. If you are using the wires from your trailer, be sure to strip about 1/2 inch of insulation and "tin" them with solder and a soldering stick or soldering iron. This will make the wire stiff enough to insert where it connects. I also drilled a 1/4" diameter hole in the bottom of the black plastic case to allow water to drain after it's submerged to start the boat. . The 1157 bulb is stuck and may over time at May be a little tricky to remove but I'll take care of that when the time comes.There is a diagram on the inside of the case (you will need to remove the lens) that tells you which way to turn the bulb and in which direction you need to put it back in. I recommend this lamp and the seller!** Over time the bulb becomes difficult to remove.Had trouble with this this year when I saw the warning light was off.***Additional Info - Had to replace this yesterday as removing the bulb ripped one of the metal contact strips off its pathetic little plastic stud/stand There was no rust but overall I have to say en that it's really cheaply made, which is why it's such a good price. The lamp couldn't even be saved because one of the contact points popped out of the bottom of the bulb.
