Review on ViewSonic VX2025WM 20-Inch Widescreen Monitor with 1680x1050 Resolution and Wide Screen - VX2025Wm by Frank Herrera

Excellent LCD monitor

I've been using this new 20 inch widescreen LCD for about two weeks and it's great. This is an amazing monitor. It's much better than my old Viewsonic VP191 for gaming, text reading etc and the VP191 is really high quality. Monitor of the previous generation of LCD monitors. Playing games and watching movies is much clearer than on my previous monitor. This is a great gaming or movie monitor. From what I've read I believe this is an LCD monitor with P-MVA panel technology. Reading articles about P-MVA, IPS, TN etc. can help you decide if this monitor is for you as each panel type has its drawbacks although they say MVA panels should be the slowest these guys. , this monitor is very fast and I don't notice any ghosting or blurring when gaming or watching videos. I believe that new generation monitors use technologies (P-MVA, S-IPS) that bridge the gap between technologies, especially LCD time There is ti Some black light comes from the lower left and lower right corners, but this is a very small amount and only when the lights are off and the screen is pure black. I've been playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and haven't noticed any backlight wobble while playing, even in dark scenes with the lights off. I didn't find any dead or permanent pixels (compared to the VP191 which was a great monitor but still had around 3 or 4). I looked at the monitor from different angles with different colors (red, green, blue, black and white). I haven't used the built-in speakers and probably don't intend to. Speakers in LCD monitors are only meant to add very basic audio capabilities, so you don't need separate speakers. The buttons are great and much easier to use than my previous LCD monitor. The high contrast ratio is great and the monitor is bright. The native resolution of the monitor is 1680x1050. This monitor will show a warning if you're not in the original dimensions, which is a good idea. You can disable the warning message so that it no longer appears if you frequently work in other resolutions. It seems to display better than my previous LCD when running at non-native resolutions, but I haven't had much experience. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, and EverQuest II support 1680 x 1050 resolution. Potential Cons: The screen looks good, although the bezel is wider than my previous LCD with very thin bezels/bezels. The bezel is about 1 inch thick around the entire edge of the screen. The bottom of the monitor bezel has an extra half inch for 3/4 the bezel width for some reason. Some other new LCD monitors I've seen have picture-in-picture functionality. So it's a shame it doesn't exist, but I'm not sure I'd use it anyway because the monitor doesn't have a USB hub. It would be nice if a USB hub was built into the monitor. The stand does not adjust in height, although the stand can be removed to mount the monitor on a wall. This is a fixed stand, but allows the monitor to be tilted forward or backward for moderate vertical viewing angle adjustment. The stand holds the monitor 4 inches above the desk/desk. Start about 6 inches above the table/table. My previous LCD was great and allowed you full height adjustment including lowering the LCD all the way down to where the monitor was really supposed to be. It also allows you to turn the monitor sideways. This ViewSonic VX2025WM monitor has neither. Of all the things I want to deduct points for, the only thing that bothers me is the lack of an adjustable stand. I might consider using Revain's Neo-Flex LCD Stand to see if it's a good stand replacement for this monitor. ADDITIONAL INFO: I am using the DVI input for this monitor. UPDATE - I bought an Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD stand (33-288-CBL) and a great LCD monitor stand to pair with this VW2025WM. This is a great stand that allows you to fully lower the LCD monitor to the tabletop (I like that. The top of the monitor should be about 1-2 inches below your eye level for better ergonomics and less neck strain strain ) or much higher above the table. The stand allows for front/back tilt and even 180 degrees for vertical viewing. I recommend purchasing an Ergotron Neo-Flex stand if you want a flexible monitor stand instead of the fixed stand that comes with this LCD. The stand can be purchased here at Revain.com.
