I drove for years without being able to adjust the temperature settings. I had to find a specific spot on the temperature control and maybe in a day it would finally settle, but it was either totally hot air or totally cold air, nothing in between. Because of this, I changed the temperature only twice a year: it was cool in summer and hot in winter. I was recently looking for a solution to this and found that this article was the solution. I checked YouTube where it is and the guy took the console apart etc. On my 2007 Sport Trac I just had to take the side panel off where the item is, that's it - no console, nothing else. . This part literally took me the entire 5-10 minutes to install. After that I couldn't believe I had waited over half a century to replace this part because it was so easy. Again this was an 07 Sport Trac 2X4 4.0, I do all mechanical repairs myself so your experience may vary depending on the vehicle and skill level as well as the tools you have that make life easier.
