I bought these for a trip where I knew I would be out in wet weather and rivers/beaches . I wanted the water shoes to look good, perform well but most importantly be able to perform while hiking outdoors to and from bodies of water. I've read warnings about stones slipping through the soles, but I took them with a grain of salt and ordered them anyway. These shoes fit great and just walking around the pool/hotel they were amazing. They are comfortable and I liked the way they looked and actually liked them more than the shoes I bought for the trip which were labeled as my "hiking shoes" and ended up using them more than I expected. But the reason I got it was mainly for beach/river walks and they didn't handle it well due to the amount of gravel you put in the shoe. After visiting the river for the first time, I found that the reviews about the stones were correct, shoes become a magnet for small stones. Even worse than the small rocks that could get stuck in the soles were the tiny rocks and silt/sand that slipped through and got caught in the mesh on the bottom. There was really nothing I could do and I just learned to ignore the tons of gravel and sand that piled up inside until I got to a point where I also washed the mud off the bottom of the boot/ could scrape off the larger, sole stones. I have also found that they dry very slowly and often remain damp for several days after use. I need shoes for the pool. I wanted high performance water shoes but they let through too much dirt to recommend them for this.
