Very Satisfied. As a preface, I am a retired ASE Certified Master. But my old scan tools haven't been updated in about a decade. I have several new German cars that I still need to service. I am fortunate to have two cars on the VAG 510 program, one is a 2015 Audi RS5 and the other is a 2016 Volkswagen Touareg. I wanted a scanning device that would work without downloading software onto my laptop and then plugging it in my car has to be stuck. Something more portable that I could keep in my tool box. Before purchasing I asked if this unit would help me diagnose an issue I was having with my Audi when the adaptive headlights service light was on. I received a brief reply from the manufacturer that it was possible without further guidance or advice, but with the message that I could contact them if I had any further questions. It's not a deal for me, but it gave me a bit of confidence. Then I got another response from someone saying if VAGCOM can do it then the 510 should be able to do it. Okay, so I decided to give it a try. I received the tool this afternoon and registered it online right away. The tool has its own built-in password. So if you buy it and try to register, make sure you use it with a serial number instead of your personal password that you used when setting up your account. Took it home and hooked it up to my 2015 Audi RS5. I was disappointed to find out that despite the fact that the device read my VIN, my car was not in its database. Okay, so I played around a bit and ended up using the A5 with 4.2, although I don't think such a beast exists, at least not in my world. The instructions that came with it were practically useless and I proceeded with the utmost care, being careful not to erase any settings. I stumbled for a while and finally pulled out the only code stored in my car that said the front height sensor was open. Now it made sense. I checked the sensor and wiring, found nothing, so I ordered a new one. Moved into his wife's diesel Tuareg. It has just over 40,000 miles on it and we just sent it to the dealer for a tank recall and some other upgrades because of the Volkswagen diesel scandal. When the car was returned there was still a service interval reminder message on the dashboard. Another disappointment. However, I couldn't find a way to disable this reminder using only the car's internal settings. Oil change yes, no message. I plugged in 510 and went to work. He found the chassis number immediately, but again he didn't recognize the desired vehicle from the chassis number. I manually found the right 7 seater Touareg with tdi and here we go. I stumbled again without a good manual to guide me, found what I needed and zeroed the distance and time since the last check. My wife is happy and I am happy with myself. I went back to the Audi and played around with the rear brake system because. The rear pads will need to be replaced soon. This car has electric rear parking brakes that must be completely removed before you can change the pads. It can be done with jumpers, but now that I had the right tool, I wanted to see if it worked. Again dialed A5. I went into the menu and figured out where to retract the parking brake caliper pistons. I told him to go ahead and I heard both calipers open. When they stopped, I told the device I was done installing new pads. Foxwell screwed them back onto the rotors and told me to check the brake fluid. money well spent.
