Review on πŸ”Œ QNAP QSW-308-1C 10GbE Switch with 3-Port 10G SFP+ and 8-Port Gigabit Unmanaged Switch - Efficient Network Solution by Tyler Bonnell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great (ugly) switch for a (limited) 10G network

This switch works like a charm. There are only two machines on my network (Desktop and NAS) with 10GBE, so this switch is perfect and allows me to eliminate some of the clutter caused by my old setup (10GBE direct connect, 8-port switch , cables everywhere) to leave room for a second NAS if my digital hoarding continues. Performance is great and I haven't had any connection issues. Defects? Well, the LEDs are bright and green. The device is pretty ugly - in the sense that they clearly tried to make something prettier but failed. The power plug is weird too. If you look at the device and see the weird green cylinder on the back, it's actually a power plug. Can I blame them for trying to make the switch look like anything other than a grey/black box? I don't think so, and definitely not worth deducting a star because I live in my closet. It's only slightly more expensive than the MikroTik switch with an additional SFP+ and seven fewer 1GBe ports, it was an easy choice as it allowed me to have a switch. I'm a fan and recommend it. But, Qnap, does it come in black?
