Review on πŸ‘š Rowenta DR8080 Handheld Garment Steamer: Stainless Steel, Powerful 1500-Watts, Blue by Gucci Breeze

Powerful handheld steamer

As someone who works in the clothing industry and uses vaping devices on a daily basis, I was curious to see how the new Rowenta DR8080 stacked up against some industry favorites, because on paper it is astonishing. Background: Anyone who has ever worked with clothing knows the ubiquitous Jiffy 4000, a vape built like a small tank that will vape for days. Aside from cleaning every two years, this thing has been working flawlessly for ages. And if you've worked on the catwalk, you're probably familiar with the Esteam Jiffy, the laptop I'd bet my life on. or at least my career (and is!). So what Rowenta promised was the Esteam-sized 1500-watt Jiffy 4000. I've heard this before and it never worked. To his credit, Rowenta keeps his promises. The water boiled at room temperature in 32 seconds and evaporated in just over 10 minutes when left to run. Its broad metal head seems to counter Esteam's only downside: vapor condenses on the vapor surface (resulting in stains). Of course, the metal head means that delicate fabrics like silk and viscose should probably use an attached steam cap, which isn't needed on a plastic esteam. Any steamer can smooth jersey, so I ran it through a couple of my hybrid fabrics: wool. - Linen and cotton mixed suit and oxford. He handled the suit with the ease of a powerful vaper, delivering deep vapor and fast relaxing fabrics. For a pocket computer, that's very impressive. I've attached before and after pictures of the Oxford, which Rowenta did very well too. If you are new to using steam irons and are looking for an alternative to ironing, let me add that a steam iron is not an iron. It loosens the fabric bonds well so that they relax and do not wrinkle. The looser the fabric, the better the result. Manufacturing, like other production factors, plays a major role in the bottom line. However, the steamer does not iron fabrics like an iron. So if you want the crisp, crisp look of a freshly ironed shirt straight out of the steamer, this isn't going to happen. Whether you're looking for an alternative to quick ironing of loose or treated fabrics, or a semi-pressed look for casual wear, this is a great tool. So why four instead of five stars? Because it still has a few design flaws to fix. First, most vapers fill the reservoir easily, while the Rowenta uses an archaic rubber-tipped plug that reminds me of an old 90's water gun. The water reservoir is slightly transparent so you can see the waterline when filling, but once you get back in the car it looks opaque and is styled to blend in with the overall aesthetic. While this makes the design prettier, it's tricky from a functional point of view as it's hard to tell how much water is left in the tank during use. The trigger also has a lock, but I still found it difficult to hold the car without pulling the trigger, so this seems like an unnecessary feature. As a device, it is fast and efficient. Functionally, it's probably an upgrade from the perfect five stars - currently a very solid four.
