This was a replacement for the Mansfield Model 160 grip. Compared to the original, the plastic 'shank' was slightly longer than the original but can easily be modified with a saw . However, the original bar had a bend, and this replacement was straight. Without flexing, this rod prevents the gasket assembly from falling back and allowing the toilet to continue functioning. Using a hair dryer run on high power and heating for about 10 minutes, the thermoplastic rod could be bent to conform to the shape of the original rod. Problem solved.
