Fire hazard: Spark plug started smoking and failed at 9A pull (but can be saved by replacing the plug)

15A? Well it's a joke. I had a USB-C power adapter plugged into a pigtail and was copying video resulting in a 5A-6A draw and the bolt through the plug was getting too hot to touch and the wire between the plug and socket got hot. I connected another computer to the MagSafe power supply in another pigtail and there was 9A between them. A few minutes later I smelled smoke and heard crackling. When removing the block connector from the source socket, I found that the spring that pushes the contact pin out was out of order (constantly compressed). Garbage. If I could return it I would. I wish quality products were easier to find. UPDATE: I replaced the broken Electop fork with a Marinco 12VPGRV fork (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VAYJXA). I found that Marinco used much thicker metal for the negative terminal (spring clips on the sides), had wire connected BOTH sides (Electop only connected one side), put the fuse on a solid metal hex bolt/nut, and much better advice gave . It also snaps into a marine-style socket and features a ribbed seal to maintain communication in vibration conditions and keep moisture out. I cut and tinned the wires, then carefully inserted them (screw terminals but with tight tolerances to avoid short circuits) and the new connector doesn't get hot even at 9A. The wire also stopped heating. I put a 15A fuse from this unit into a new plug that came with a 10A fuse but showed a maximum of 15A which is normal for a 16AWG cable of this length. At least copper wire. Conclusion: the block can be saved by replacing a poor-quality connector. This $9 item is now $22 but should be reliable now.
