I installed three lamps under the banister in the basement. I placed a light at the top, middle and bottom of the railing and it's bright enough for the steps and looks nice. They work with going up and down stairs however the light tends to turn on when I'm close to the light which works well but it would be better if it continued as I got close to the light. Of course the overhead light comes on as I walk past the stairs leading from the hallway facing the stairs to the kitchen on the side of the stairs when I really want no light. To fix this, I put a small piece of tape on the side of the sensor that faces the top of the stairs so it only triggers when I start walking down the stairs.
