Over the years we've tried different types, all with heating elements, but all of them can't really HEAT the water, they're just trying to make sure it doesn't get cold as fast as without everything. This one seems about the same. You can pour hot water and like almost all, the water doesn't maintain the temperature even without the bubble function to cool it faster. He's cooling down. However, this one cools down slower than most others I've had. Even when it's set to the highest temperature, it's not supported at all. In all the time we've tried these, I've only had ONE (and we still use one) that was actually able to HEAT the water and keep it warm. The cord here isn't as long as ours, so it's not as easy to use in some spots that aren't very close to the outlet.
