I have to confess that I have several newer bags that can withstand the dishwasher and even the microwave and I know from bad experience that these bags can't. They need to be hand washed, and too high a temperature will deform and destroy them. Still, in many ways, this type of bag is my favorite substitute for the wasteful "disposable” zippers. They are relatively easy to keep open and fill, and the different sizes offer space for all sorts of "things". I use them for leftovers and sort things in them like different tea bags when there are only a few left in the box. You can see through them enough to get an idea of exactly what bits of food are in them, as opposed to some of the really greasy ones. And one more use - yesterday I wanted to send my stepson and his family home some potato salad after the Father's Day BBQ and I was able to pack it in a big bag without asking for the dish back! Now they are introduced to these wonderful bags and I don't have to wonder what could happen to a favorite dish that no one has seen before!
