The glass jars themselves are very well made, very thick and strong. I bought 1 of these to make sure they would work for what I wanted (I prepare my dogs ready made raw food in these containers and keep them in the freezer until I need 1, then put one in to thaw and use the refrigerator). They were the perfect size so I ordered 5 more. Less than 2 months later one of the lids broke at the seam. I hand wash the lids only, I did not put them in the dishwasher. I have read the description of this item carefully to ensure the lids are freezer safe (it says so). Each container is used 5 days a month (each contains 5 days of food for my dogs) and they open and close twice a day (for breakfast and dinner) so they only open and close 10 times a month and I have 2 months away ! I expected the lids to last at least a few years. Without a lid, they are useless for storing food. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the rest of the lids start cracking and that will be behind the rear window. I feel like I wasted $180. I do not recommend these containers due to the poor quality of the lids.
