Review on MarineLand Penguin Bio-Wheel Power Filter: Ultimate Multi-Stage Aquarium Filtration System by Denese Fothergill

Revainrating 1 out of 5

This is a very durable filter.

I originally bought this for a Betta aquarium but it was a disaster. Blow the poor fish like he was "Twister" in that movie. But I'm a crazy fisherman who has a few fish tanks so it must have been used somewhere. I use it now in my 10 gallon quarantine tank. I stuff it with my own filter thread and ceramic rings. The container is large, so I put in two layers of thread and a large number of bio rings. I don't use the bio bike. It spins too smooth, but maybe that's because I have too much media of my own. Anyway, I just don't think it's necessary or that effective, but I don't know much. garbage and rubbish. The tank is immaculate and crystal clear. It does NOT have an adjustable flow rate, which is annoying. So I can't tell you to use it for less than 10 gallons. It has a slit at the top of the intake pipe that you can close, which is practical. If you have a 10 gallon aquarium this filter is a great option if the fish don't need still water like the betta. It turns the water over 10 times an hour and as I've seen with my own eyes it does a great job of keeping the tank clean!

Pros
  • COMPATIBILITY: For use with Marineland Rite size filter cartridges (see separate filter for size recommendations).
Cons
  • Some imperfections
