Review on πŸ”§ Original Equipment Engine Coolant Thermostat by ACDelco GM, Part Number 131-158 by Dennis Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I ALWAYS use the stock thermostat: it's an upgrade from the original that came with my car

I recently bought an HHR from the first owner and the thermostat failed almost immediately. used to the cars of the 80's, but with this machine I wanted to be more careful. glad i did it. ACDelco's new OEM thermostat is the thermostat for this car. Others tend to crash faster or cause computer problems from the start. PROBABLY it was the original and if not it was replaced before the new model. A little research revealed obvious differences, and they ALWAYS stick to the new recommendation. (same for the recently replaced VVT solenoid valve). But as soon as I installed this thing, the check engine light went out immediately (not even a code reset was required - I have a code reader/reset just in case, but it wasn't necessary - still messing around with the battery cables). After a few thousand miles all the little oddities are gone and after monitoring the temp sensor (digital) in various conditions for two weeks I know the replacement was a success.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
