I bought these to use with my brother LB6800PRW (aka SE400). I'm new to sewing and wanted enough thread to play with without spending a fortune. The price is very cheap and the colors are beautiful. The finished product looks smooth, shiny and bright. The coils are complete bullshit. Each spool comes with a plastic cap that keeps the filament securely in place when not in use, so I'm not sure why others cut off the top to make room for the filament or use tape. The problem is that even when the thread is firmly attached, it tends to unravel, starting at the ends as "leaves" , so you end up losing bits of thread. I originally thought that this only happened when the thread was new as the top layer was wound loosely, but that's not the case. I've got roles where I'm halfway through with no issues that suddenly unravel. I think they are not wrapped tight enough during production. Another problem I've encountered is that many plastic spools have rough, jagged edges and the filament gets caught on them during use. If I'm not careful, the thread will tangle and snap (cheaper than bending the needle, but still annoying). I've sanded and/or filed the edges of most coils to solve this problem. Another problem is that some reels are missing numbers, making it impossible to determine the color (I haven't found a conversion chart for this brand yet, but it's nice to have a way to tell what colors I'm using). I have used and liked or disliked). The final question is the quality of the filament at a microscopic level. They look great to the naked eye, but I'm wondering if I'll damage the car with cheap filament. I found this filament comparison which shows images of different filaments under 60x magnification. It's quite surprising to see the amount of loose threads and wear that comes with cheaper threads. (See [.]). I think it's great for a start and I don't regret buying this set. However, I will save money to buy a higher quality, more expensive thread set. By the way, I also bought a set of these shiny threads 22 Spool Embroidery Machine Thread Starter Kit, but I like this thread much more. The luster thread is not as smooth and strong as this brand and the spools show fraying. If you're trying to decide between the two, I'd suggest avoiding sparkly threads. I've attached a picture of one of the designs I downloaded from the Brother website (free) and embroidered using only drawing threads so you can see how beautiful the threads look in the finished product. deciding between the two, I would suggest avoiding sparkling threads.
