This blanket looks like the picture but the label says it's made from 90% cotton fibers and 10% olefin fibers. Olefin is the generic name for polypropylene, a synthetic fiber used to make many different products, including carpets. In the carpet industry, these terms are mostly used interchangeably. Olefin has several distinctive properties compared to other synthetic carpet fibers. It's much cheaper but doesn't last as long as other fibers and doesn't resist soiling well. It can be a good choice for outdoors and wet basements. I think thanks to the olefin, it takes three times longer to tumble dry than similarly sized 100% cotton blankets.
