Great little light. Place it over a shatter tank that's 12 inches high, 24 inches wide, and 18 inches deep and it'll illuminate most of it. The corals seem happier from the moment they are installed. Time will tell if corals grow well there. You can buy another one if it's not powerful enough for the Frag system. Update (4 months since installation): verified winner; Though it's over 12 inches tall, 24 inches wide, and 18 inches deep, it's mated to a 150-gallon multi-tank system that runs at full power on an analog timer. We grow soft corals and maintain the health of a number of LPS species with a low-tech setup featuring a macroalgae refugium, aging skimmer and slop protein, and a huge flow of living rock/water with minimal dosage. This little light has decent PAR values at shallow depths (could be good for corals in low light at 18, no promises). Coral algae growth has increased dramatically and has maintained a high growth rate since early February 2018 with no further changes to the system. The most drastic changes were made to coral fragments, anemones, rescue corals and mother coral colonies. We have never used AquaIllumination, EcoTechMarine or any other high quality LED lights in our personal systems but we are definitely impressed with the rapid healing, growth and reproductive rate of corals in our Frag system using this light. For example, we bought 10 small rainbow rose anemones around the same time and now we have 23. Our two-headed green Duncan coral that died from an attack by a fire-launched dwarf angel had between 10 and 15 heads. The right wavelengths of light are present in sufficient quantity to do what it purports to do - grow coral (provided it is applied to an aquarium to its capacity). Note that aluminum anodizing will degrade quickly (2 weeks) with constant exposure to salt water. This is what is normally expected for hard anodized versus salt water (perhaps slightly electrified), did not rise above water level, did not affect our system and quickly became overgrown with coralline algae. The support is strong and stable when properly secured with a little common sense. The attached photos were taken today after 4 months of use. Ideal for nano, pico or frag systems. I recommend buying if it's on your shortlist; it costs more than comparable low-cost LED lights. Dollar for dollar, it's hard to beat this little giant. Too bad it's made in the USA.
