Decent construction, low power consumption

error loading media. I bought this for a wind turbine demo project. Judging by the appearance, the design of the engine is small, but worthy. I didn't take it apart to check the windings on the armature or the brushes on the backplate. I used heavier turbine blades so I didn't get very high RPMs when using the fan to drive the turbine, but you can see from the graph that the output voltage "no load" is usually linear with shaft speed, and I would expect the generator to require over 1000 rpm to achieve 12 VDC output voltage with no load. When connecting LEDs or a corresponding buck circuit to charge a cell phone or to operate a lamp connected via USB, I measured the output power in the range of 100-350mW. alternator and obtained an open circuit output voltage of 15.5-17.5 VDC at 4-4.5 m/s wind (as shown in the video) but was unable to directly measure the RPM of this particular blade. Extrapolating from previous data, I'm guessing 1400-1500 RPM. When connected to a 10 ohm resistive load, the voltage dropped to 1.3 - 1.5 volts, indicating an output power of around 200mW, but I didn't attempts to determine the optimal load for this blade configuration. That's not much for the price. expensive for a kids science experiment but seems limited at low wind speed (4.5m/s) apart from charging phones or maybe 12v batteries with proper turbine blades and circuitry.
