The only drawback of this camera is the very short battery life. I had to buy a replacement part. For the price, this camera has an amazing array of features that will help even a novice photographer take great pictures. I bought it to replace my old Nikon D40 which finally broke after 10 years of intensive use (80,000+ photos). The battery that came with the D40 held a much better charge even after 10 years, so I'd like to see Nikon come back with a better battery that can be used for a longer period of time. It is enough to take 200-300 shots to drain the battery. Favorite features: large adjustable touchscreen; special effects; easier on-camera editing; video mode; the ability to sync with a smartphone.
