Please see all my photos which include before and after cleaning. It was almost BLACK right out of the box! I touched it and my fingers turned black! I don't think it's real silver but I had some industrial silver scraper/polish and after half an hour of brushing, rinsing, brushing again and using a second type of jewelry cleaner I finally had a decent look. However, I have no idea how long it will look like this; it might fade in a day, who knows?! The only reason I'm not returning it is because of all the work I put into cleaning it. Someone else said they arrived the same way but I thought it was an accident. 4 stars for durability because it actually seems to be quite durable and has been through my vigorous cleaning process. Buyers be careful.
