Review on ๐Ÿงฟ Black Replacement Cooling Fan Assembly for Dodge Ram Pickup - TYC 610730 by Brian Piecuch

Very simple, give yourself enough slack in the AC lines

I think people who don't know this should know this. Knowing this, you can install the fan assembly in 15 minutes. No joke. Installation time, start to finish, 45 mins. But actually, turn off this whole block, 15 mins maybe less. First thing you want to do if you have TPMI like me because it was on a 2006 Dodge Ram. Remove the TPMI from its holder and use the rope or bungee cords to pull it out of the breathing assembly. Then remove the top two screws holding the fan assembly together, along with the two heatsink screws. Once you've unscrewed all four screws, the air conditioning line that runs from the front of the condenser along the front of the radiator up and out to the passenger side, you're going to pull that hose out of the brackets holding it. I believe there are 4. All you have to do is allow more movement in that tube. Now you need to unscrew the four screws that attach the case to the capacitor. After removing all four 10mm screws. Next, turn off the fan motor. This is where it gets easy, you have some kinks in your air conditioning hoses, especially when the front one is out of its brackets. You pull the capacitor straight up and it rises high enough for that shroud to come off immediately. You may have to twist the AC hose that connects to the rear at the top a bit, but everything else is instantly removed if you pull the capacitor out far enough to reveal the battery compartment and fuse box or TPMI. Once you remove the assembly, immediately install the new one by raising the capacitor as high as possible. The capacitor rises quite high, much higher than people think. And none of your lines are even remotely curved. You need to cut something on the new one and if you don't know where to cut you can go to YouTube and watch the video. But the area you are cutting is for the upper A/C hose that goes to the compressor. Once you have the new one on, just gently press down on the condenser, just the edges, not the ribs, to align the four screw holes. If you have TPMI surrounding the plastic that holds the device, you can bend it slightly so it exposes the fan shrouds when you put it back down. The trick is to give yourself enough slack in the lower AC line to raise the capacitor far enough to remove the assembly immediately. As I said, the whole job took 45 minutes, actually switching my unit took 15 minutes because I didn't realize the capacitor could be pulled that far. If I had known that from the start, it would have taken me 10 minutes. I also removed the battery and wanted to remove the battery compartment to give a little more room. All in all, I could probably do this job in 30 minutes if I skip these steps. Not difficult at all.
