Review on Tripp Lite DisplayPort Switch B005 DPUA2 K by Marcus Curry

I love the compact size of this unit - it's about half the size of my old KVM which I used to switch between my old MacPro and a Windows 7 - Change PC. These PCs required DVI ports and my new build of Windows 10 only had HDMI or DP 1.4 ports. Luckily my MacPro also has a mini-DP port so this device along with the adapter is a good solution for my needs as I now have a 1440p ultra wide monitor and with my RX 6800 full DP 1.4 bandwidth Switching is best done using the front panel selection buttons, but you can use the supplied remote control if you prefer. I'm not sure if there is a way to disable this switch method. at least I haven't found it yet. Another problem that has been encountered is related to the mouse port on the back. I play MS Flight Simulator with a HOTAS controller, but the mouse is also an essential component to control the cockpit switches and sticks in VR. When stepping through this module, the mouse pointer doesn't work well with VR and basically renders the mouse function useless, at least in this simulation. So I only connect my mouse to KVM when I'm working between both PCs, which is fine as I'm not playing games at the time but using it for video editing and graphics work on 2 PCs at the same time. But it's a bit of a hassle to get up and unplug the mouse from the PC and plug it into KVM when I want to edit something or whatever requires both PCs to be up and running. No further problems to report. Those two aside, and since it was a lot cheaper than any other KVM DP 1.4 I could find, I would recommend this device to others with a caveat about those two existing drawbacks, no matter how minor.
