Review on SXMA Front Cowl Light Bracket - Driving Light Brackets for Toyota Fj Cruiser 2007-2015 (Pair) by Jacob Richardson

So I ordered these mounts. I've watched tons of videos and read comments about all the problems people have had with these braces. Thought I'd check it out because I wanted to install some lights in the moat. I'm very happy to report that I didn't have to do much to install these mounts. The only thing I did to make it look cleaner was install a nylon gasket and use a longer screw. I didn't have to cut anything or shave off the mount. When I used the spacer it was pretty easy. A few things to keep in mind. Use masking tape when removing the hood to avoid scratching the paintwork. Although I was very careful, the clips broke anyway, but there are spare clips in the kit. Be sure to remove the hood struts before removing the screws to prevent the hood from moving when the screws are removed. After you screw it on, I recommend removing the clips from the hood before putting it on. Once you have it attached see how it looks and matches the fj metal bracket. If everything is ok, put the clips back on the case and reinstall. The reason I say this is because after using new clips you run the risk of damaging them if something goes wrong and you have to remove them again. The mounts are good quality, well painted and I highly recommend them.
