SXMA Front Cowl Light Bracket - Driving Light Brackets for Toyota Fj Cruiser 2007-2015 (Pair) Review

After reading and seeing all the reviews / doing it myself I was very skeptical about using it. I was able to install them in half an hour (including wiring and positioning) with minimal problems. I'll admit this isn't the strongest or highest quality mount, but I was able to just screw it on.

When we spoke to the seller/rep they said no further changes were needed. Not correct. I still had to sand the spots to fit. I couldn't bend it very much manually either. Unlike the ditch angles on my other Toyota. If it wobbles off-road at high speeds I will definitely remove and install steel. Meanwhile, 1 1/2 stars for incorrect information.

Do not buy them unless you are sure you can customize them. They're far away and you'll either have to stretch them or cut a metal alloy out of them to make them fit. I decided to stretch them out as I didn't want to cut as much metal out of them. See photos for length difference. Modification on the right, original on the left. Depending on the modification, the bracket cover with FJ logo may not fit. I would also recommend using 3M tape for stabilization.

Brackets are good quality but need to be thinner where the bracket runs between the hood and windscreen drain and brackets with hood bolts. The left bracket needs to be modified (with a dremmel) to fit all the brackets, they don't have to be a flush fit, they either have to be 1.) cut with a dremmel or 2.) bent by hand to sit flush with the shroud . It is worth buying if you agree with the modification of the brackets. The seller needs to resize the brackets and measure them on the real FJ.

Reviews of this product are mixed. Someone said it was perfect so I bought it hoping to be one of the lucky ones. nope As mentioned, the brackets require a little modification to work. The end result will not look smooth. If you are unhappy with small parts, definitely don't take them. lol Luckily my buddy has the items (dremel, spray paint) to fix this problem. I was incredibly happy with my purchase, but when I went to install the brackets, none of them fit. As an engineer, I consider myself relatively competent in mechanics, but they didn't work. Looks like they need deep washers or large intermediate bolts. After the sheath was removed, the clips provided did not secure it properly. The reason for my reviews is simple. Construction: 4 out of 5. Instructions: 1 out of 5, they are unusable and the pictures are blurry. Easy installation: 3 out of 5 points. Clamps are necessary because they break or lose their rigidity over time. A hood removal kit should be used for this task. So I ordered these mounts. I've watched tons of videos and read comments about all the problems people have had with these braces. Thought I'd check it out because I wanted to install some lights in the moat. I'm very happy to report that I didn't have to do much to install these mounts.
