My wife and I were having problems with basement flooding when the stairwell drain pump failed. Recently we were out of town and it was raining heavily. The drain pump must have blown a switch causing it to stop and our newly renovated basement had nearly 6 inches of water. I swore to myself I'd never have to deal with that again! Although our pump was serviceable and worked well, there was nothing to protect us if the power went out, so I went to the store and bought the largest basement protection system they had and had trouble installing it. It was almost $600, you have to refuel the battery yourself and after all that hassle the pump was dead and useless. I put it in a box, took it back and decided never to use this brand of guard dogs again. An internet search turned up amazing reviews for this system and it was voted the best of the best! I wanted to buy a cheaper battery than the $223 Wayne battery they recommend for it, but decided to just suck it up and buy a Wayne battery. I couldn't be happier with this system. It took 30 minutes to install and get everything just how I wanted it and all I had to buy was a small piece of extension pipe to plug into the Tuis Unit and connect to my existing exhaust pipe. Everything was assembled and ready to use, and the separately supplied battery was also fully charged and ready to use. You don't really need instructions to wire this. I took the backup pump's small float and placed it just above the main pump to make it run faster. I connected everything, filled the hole and bam, the water was sucked out immediately. I turned off the main pump to simulate a power outage and as soon as the water hit the backup pump float, bang, the battery kicked in, turned on the backup pump and immediately sucked the water out of the hole! This is what we were looking for! It's very well made and works like a champ! I highly recommend it!
