Review on General Tools 861 Woodworking Furniture by Dylan Deng

Poor jig imitation, best jig accessory

I was trying to make square mesquite legs for my coffee table and bought this because they said it would come in any size and thickness fit and for square seams . Not really. The instructions were terrible for a square joint and didn't work. Had to use U-Tube.1 video. The tool is light as I had to use clamps to pull the bottom of the jig together as shown in the photos as the top deformed as I clamped my wood into the jig. 2. It's not designed for 7/8" wood as that will move the straight cutter down too far with the top bearing so the bearing doesn't rest on the jig. wearing and breaking the new $25 Diablo Router Bit.3. Clamps are poorly and cheaply constructed. I had 2 1/2" wide wood, but they are made for 5"+ wood. Only one clip was on the wood that I cut.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Has flaws
