My dog is one and a half years old, she understands all commands but sometimes prefers to ignore them. This dog training collar allowed us to let him run around the garden when we were outside. When it needs to "come," we use a short beep after it doesn't immediately respond to voice commands. There were some distractions like UPS delivery or squirrels that required the use of a beep and then a vibration. In the past two weeks I've only had to stun twice: once when my dog was picking up a possum and another time when he was chasing a garbage truck. I had to set the shock to "60" before he got his attention, probably because of his thick fur. The best thing is that I can call him now and he'll be right there. I hope that after a few weeks of such training he will no longer need a collar. It's so nice to be able to put on a collar before you head outside and know that you can give your dog the freedom to explore but still remember that everything is under your control. The battery lasts a long time since we take off the collar when not exercising outside. The range is also very good, at least 700 feet in the woods, beyond which I have not tested. This is a good dog but he needs a bit of work, with this collar his behavior improved really fast and hopefully this will translate into a lifetime of positive behavior.
