So as a personal experiment to see if I can actually grow plants underwater (haha) and after much searching I decided to try this 10 inch to convert 5 gallon Fluval Chi . The tank itself is excellent but that filter and light had to be removed. This 10 inch bar is the perfect width for a 10 inch chi, looks sharp and my plants (anubias nana, moss ball, rangeri swords and supposedly dead tomentosum and anacharis) are growing fast and bright green. The light shows off my fish beautifully and the blue night lights are a treat in the evenings. It lasted about two weeks and I saw a big change. I don't have any algae problems. The build quality of the Ray Light is really high and the brushed metal finish is nice to the touch. I will be buying more of these lanterns in different widths to match the jerseys. The mounting feet are adjustable in width so you can mount them on a cheap base tank without cutting off the black top of the tank like you did. must be used with other light sources. My setup includes an Ecoplus substrate, a dosing of 0.5ml Seachem Flourish Excel every other day, a sachet of Seachem Purigen in a filter (Marina S15 which is amazing btw), 4 neon tetras, 1 ghost shrimp eating out of my hand , and three pointed snails (cleaning team)
