Review on πŸ’» Komputerbay 8GB DDR2 PC2-5300F ECC Fully Buffered 667MHz CL5 2Rx4 FB-DIMM (240 PIN) w/Heatspreaders - Ideal for Server Usage Only (Not Compatible with Non-ECC Unbuffered) by Justin Dorsett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great in the computer and accessory space

When I was replacing the RAM on a once expensive Dell Boss, I noticed it said "ECC" on it. What the heck is "ESS"? Apparently an excuse to charge five times as much for RAM. It was either trusting a company I had never heard of (komputerbay) for around $80, or going to the next cheapest (Corsair) for $250. $80 vs. $250. Combine it! The RAM has been in the car for about the last month, abused about 80 hours a week and is working great with no issues. 32-bit systems tend to have around 4GB of RAM if you're lucky - Windows typically only uses 2.75-3.5 gigabytes out of the 4 you enter. Windows XP could use 3.5 of 4 gigabytes. I installed the Ekk RAM from the computer bay - no complaints.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
