Review on ViewSonic TD2230 10 Point Touchscreen Monitor, DisplayPort 1920X1080P, 76Hz, LED - VIEWSONIC INC by Philip Strong

What is meant is usually a touchscreen, which makes a bad desktop monitor

There is no user manual for this monitor, just a cartoon quick start guide. It took me a while to find the HDMI port as it faces down on one side and not on the side like the other ports. Although it has a Displayport input, it doesn't come with a Displayport cable. The user manual can be downloaded from the Viewsonic website. In several languages. But the instruction manual is also poorly written. Ergonomically, it's designed for touchscreen use and makes a poor dual-use desk or monitor as you can't adjust the screen vertically or rotate it sideways. Connections on the side: USB, VGA, Displayport and audio on the right; and left only HDMI. This means that the cables are visible on the side of the monitor and cannot be hidden behind them. The display is very nice and you can make all sorts of settings with the tiny controls on the front. They took minimalism to the extreme. The controls are tiny numbers and arrows, unlabeled, barely visible, and there's no diagram in the owner's manual identifying the controls. The screen is durable and scratch resistant. Since it's multi-touch, it's only for Windows 8 and 10, so the drivers are only for Windows. If you're using a touchscreen on Windows 8 or 10, then this is a sleek monitor. The touchscreen can be used from multiple angles and multi-touch works well. But if you want a dual-use desktop monitor or table with a touchscreen, look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Energy efficient technology helps reduce energy costs.
Cons
  • Packaging is not nice
