Better than OEM part

In short I highly recommend it. Better than OEM part. Easy to install, I promise! Fast plug and play, 5 minute project including watching YouTube tutorials. Bottom line: I can't believe I put this off for so long. Damn cheap and very easy for someone with little to no knowledge of cars. It's really better than the OEM part. The interiors are partially water-proof, which seems useless, but the flip-top lid latches in the open position (which the OEM part doesn't). This prevents the hinge from constantly putting pressure on the accessory cable and therefore the accessory port. That's why mine failed in the first place (even though it lasted 14 years). It also has good locking pressure and a lock-in-open position makes connecting the aux cable much easier. First, make sure it's an Aux port. Try different accessory cables. Mine only worked when there was pressure on the cables (a classic sign of a port failure). There is a spring in the rear connector that often becomes weak and needs to be replaced. Use a thin wedge-shaped object to remove the old port. Slowly and steadily so as not to scratch the dashboard. The knife was too sharp and thin, the screwdriver too thick. I used a flat head glasses/sunglasses screwdriver which worked like a charm. Use a plastic tool if you're worried about scratches. It took a few tries to get the old cover off, but then just unplug the aux connector and plug in the new one. Snap back the lid, it's done in 5 with the YouTube tutorial video. The part looks more or less the same. like the OEM part except for the black glue covering the circuit board and the 4 pins/prongs are not sharpened (OEM pins are tapered at the tips like needles) and they are slightly longer. Fits perfectly and no aesthetic difference is visible when the cap is put back on. The package comes with an "extra" aux port case which I didn't want to replace. I used a new circuit board and cover. If this fails in the future I will update this review.
