The wrap is quite thick over the entire outer surface! Initially I had a slight suspicion that it would "seal" the filter housing completely. When I removed it, of course, there was still a fairly large gap around the filter on the input side around the winding, through this gap sediment fell from there onto neighboring filters. I have since stopped using them after the first 2 gave the same results. In the future I will only buy filters that have a seal on both sides to seal the filter housing.
